]]> Funding secured for solar panels!  https://www.arcade-dewsbury.org/funding-secured-for-solar-panels/ Mon, 23 Feb 2026 20:06:53 +0000 https://www.arcade-dewsbury.org/?p=1090 We’re delighted to share that we’ve received £16,500 in funding from the nBS Foundation to support an exciting sustainability project at Corporation Street.
The funding will enable the installation of 22 solar panels and a battery system on the Corporation St roof which is a major step towards reducing our environmental impact and future-proofing our community facilities. Once fitted, the system is expected to cover the electricity costs of our community space and events room, helping us create a more sustainable hub for local activity.
We’re incredibly grateful for this support and look forward to sharing updates as the project progresses towards completion in May 2026.

]]> Construction Progress https://www.arcade-dewsbury.org/construction-progress/ Wed, 04 Feb 2026 12:22:00 +0000 https://www.arcade-dewsbury.org/?p=1072 Work goes on repairing window frames and repointing under the new roof. The internal scaffolding should be down by March and the Arcade will begin to look like its future self. Stretching the definition of Spring (summer doesn’t start until the June solstice!), construction should be finished on time.

Next month we hope to publicise the pathway to opening with the events we have lined up.

We have 40 live expressions of interest in units and once the scaffolding is down, we’ll be showing them around again, signing heads of terms on units.

What is Imbolc?

Imbolc is an ancient festival marking the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Historically, it celebrates the “first stirrings” of life – a time when seeds begin to wake in the belly of the earth. It is a season for purification, setting new intentions, and clearing out the old to make room for growth.

A Day of Restoration and Discovery

We have curated a soulful lineup of activities to help you align with this energy of new beginnings:

Christmas in Dewsbury will stem from the brand new public space out front of the town hall and across to the Princess of Wales Precinct, including a traditional Christmas market, a community music stage, and even a fun Santa’s grotto.

In The Arcade Pop Up, between 10am and 3:30pm we will be hosting:

  • A FREE Santa’s Grotto with a gift bag for every child.
  • An Elf Hunt! Help us find the elf in 22 shop windows around Dewsbury. The final stop is the Pop Up and you can win a prize! Read more here.
